How Sweet is Too Sweet?
Equal parts joyous and introspective - a strange combination that works in this case. Some of the compositions are so overblown that an awful lot of people will dismiss this album instantly as just so much fluff. They might not be too far off the mark but when Jens catches you in the right frame of mind (this could require medication) you might just get swept up on a wave of sweet sentiment and tender emotion. [Group hug]
The album also has a song that rhymes bingo with zingo and Ringo (as in Starr) - hats off.
No one writes songs about bingo like Mr Lekman
I've been listening to this album for a couple of months (usually while my wife is out of the room - in the interest of balance I have to add that she finds the album depressing and monotonous). There are some really wonderful, humourous and warm songs that manage to avoid sounding too twee or quirky. Like 'You're so silent...' the music complements the lyrics well. On the downside, the child singing during 'It was a strange time in my life' is very irritating, while 'Your arms around me' owes a heavy debt to R.E.M's 'Near wild heaven'. However, songs like 'the opposite of hallelujah' and 'Friday night at the drive in bingo' are original and uplifting, and seem to only get better each time I listen to them.

Ridiculously addictive, this album is enchanting. A must for anyone who enjoys heart-warming music and witty lyrics.... Now go get it

In a year characterised by the same old dross what a refreshing and uplifting
album. Jammed with witty lyrics and kitchen sink drama it is now evident that
Swedes have a superior grasp of English than any other nation. Enjoy the wit and wisdom of Jens.
